This popped into my head immediately
Being shown Poltergeist far too young. The face peeling mirror scene was A LOT for maybe 10 year old me.
In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

I'd still say I'm putting up with the combat more than truly enjoying it but I also just got to The Underpass and yeah, Remedy still has the juice.
Control Resonant may have completely turned a corner for me—mechanically, narratively—at the Underpass.

You could almost certainly wipe all student debt for the amount of money that will get wasted on this.
The U.S. wants a nuclear reactor on the moon by 2030. A Russian-Chinese alliance is working on one for 2036. Some leading scientists caution that governments are moving too quickly and the danger is great. trib.al/HT96ZqB

Worth repeating that in most cases the President has very little control over the economy, except in this specific case where Trump has smashed the make everything more expensive button multiple times between tariffs and causing the Strait of Hormuz to be closed.
TAPPER: 2 years ago, Trump said he thought he could get mortgage rates down to 3%. Last week mortgage rates had the biggest weekly jump in 4 years. It's more than 7%. Why has Trump failed to deliver on that promise?

HASSETT: President Trump hasn't failed to deliver at all. The economy is booming.

I'll take this as an opportunity to share this very good video.

These games were great and they had things to say, namely FUCK NAZIS.

Taxpayer dollars further enriching two of biggest freaks on Earth and Newt Gingrich is there for some reason too.
Feeling pretty darned good about entrusting the future of humanity to this trifecta.

I think they sell Autowarcom as a pack-in with the Cobra Command playset
Hegseth: "Today, at my direction, we are announcing the creation of Autonomous Warfare Command, or Autowarcom."

Just "love" how ESPN's writers think the Guardians make it out of the ALDS and then their ALCS votes/prediction has the Rays, Red Sox, and Yankees mentioned without even mentioning us as a possibility.

Hot take: The only way to make the kind of money VCs are interested in is to make socially cancerous products and gambling is the most obvious way this manifests.

Even if they give them a pass on every piece of permitting/review, this is operational when? 2028 at the earliest?

If this country had actual industrial policy you could say this is a good idea but the timelines here are so much longer and will do absolutely nothing to impact costs right now.
Exclusive: President Trump will announce a Minnesota company’s plan to build a $15 billion steel mill in Iowa, as he looks to counter voter frustration with the economy ahead of the midterm elections.
Trump to Unveil Planned $15 Billion Iowa Steel Project
The announcement comes as Trump is looking for wins ahead of a tough midterm election for Republicans.

This really drives home the fact that if AI can't replace a ton of workers that the underlying value to enterprise customers is nowhere close to what the VC is looking for at IPO time, which is of course why Anthropic and OpenAI want to get that done sooner than later.
These sound like non-trivial problems.

Based on my first 5 hours, Control Resonant's damage/stagger output values still feel very out of whack so I can't imagine what they felt like before. No wonder some reviewers did not like it. I'm mostly here for the story so I'm going to be making some adjustments.

Finished Star Wars Zero Company. What a great game. Might go back and play again on hard at some point since normal got almost trivially easy at times with the team combos I leaned into. That said those team dynamics are where the game sings.

I get why they don't do it but a full bio for guest contributors should be required. Isgur's bio includes:
- Former Trump DOJ.
- Defended the Muslim ban.
- Defended/promoted family separation as a DOJ spokesperson
- President of Harvard FedSoc chapter
- SCOTUSBlog now owned by conservative media
really fascinating to see isgur conduct this interview as if conservative election mistrust has materialized out of nowhere or as if liberal claims of voter suppression are totally baseless. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/24/o...

We need to start talking about this as cognitive surrender.
Ezra Klein asked Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang about AI making kids worse at math and reading. Huang’s reply: “Does it matter?”

Then he said he doesn’t know his own address or phone number. “We’re going to lose some fine intellectual dexterity.” www.nytimes.com/2026/09/23/o...

Imagine sitting down with a white supremacist who just a few months ago said, "The defining fact of our lives is that whites around the world are being eliminated." Then, asking him absolutely nothing about his white power activism & slapping this quote on the thumbnail of your cozy interview.

We've given the worst people on Earth tools to perpetuate scams on a scale never thought possible.
That's just fraud, my dude.

Even if you use an AI agent. It's just fucking fraud.
