The one thing is losing Dolly, a fundamentally decent and kind human who was everything good people said about her and more.
The other thing is living through this pivot to open facism and feeling every loss of people who just kept doing what is right and good tenfold and not knowing how to bear it

CN patriarchale Gewalt

Being a sports fan is misery and pain. no idea why I've been doing that to myself for 30+ years by now.
(I'll remember tomorrow but right now im busy keeping myself from gnawing through the edge of my table)

Maybe it needs to be pointed out again but: art is work.
Work has to be compensated for. We can discuss the question of access once the artist has been payed. But if the artist pursues this as any form of career, compensation is non-negotiable until we made a better, non-capitalist society

Everyone who tried to draw around me and started drawing LOVED it at the beginning because of their QUICK IMPROVEMENT. Then quit when they hit The Wall™️.

But it's when you hit The Wall™️ that you NEED to push through with practice!! And you gotta do it for yourself, because it's ALWAYS worth it! 😤

Why oh why does one have to name characters and settings? Is it not enough to call them grump, clown, graveyard girl and The City? *sighs*

I’m sorry but as someone who has a book and a PhD on this exact thing, this is just straight up not true. The majority of Nazis discovered living abroad (particularly in the US, Australia, and UK) faced almost no legal consequences beyond the occasional loss of citizenship.
This is essentially what governments did in the late 1900s and early 2000s with respect to Nazis. Whether you were a lowly concentration camp guard or in Hitler's inner circle, if there was evidence you were a Nazi, it was straight to jail with your walker.

It worked.
Maybe instead of identifying specific ICE agents who do particularly heinous things, we could just penalize everyone who was on payroll at the agency starting by a certain date.

When you get the reputation of being the guy with the encouraging words on New Year's Eve, it can start to come through as a little pressure -- what if the situation on the ground is worse than usual? what if people are more scared than they usually are, and with cause? what use are good vibes then?

All righty -- this year's writerly resolution is live, should you care to read it. The tl;dr is it's actually quite an optimistic read, so hopefully it'll give you some juice to kick open the new year and put words to stories that need to be told.
