When I was younger I would listen to Rush or Hannity, and joke that I was “keeping an eye on the opposition.” I would find myself yelling at the radio in the car so I stopped bc it was bad for me.
MMFA took that idea, and did it at scale, and broke the brains of some really talented journalists.
The Tom Morello thing is a really good reminder that even when they are mostly ideologically aligned with us, the rich don’t actually care about us.

It’s always populists who say this type of shit.
The best cure for ideological bias is find someone on the other side and go to lunch with them.⁣

For what it’s worth, I went and read through the replies to the thread he QTed and there was roughly 1% of them that didn’t just agree with him, and that 1% was the only person providing actually sources.

I said this in a reply yesterday but will reiterate here: I have seen an extensive public conversation about rehabilitating men who commit rape and grossly insufficient conversation about ensuring women who experience rape are not punished for it.

For Donald Trump.
Mayor Mamdani: In nine months, we've started to deliver universal childcare for families. We've paved 200,000 potholes. We're launching the nation's first municipal rule to make it as easy to cancel subscriptions as to sign up

Theo Von: Let's go, bro

Sheryl identifies an escalating cycle of violence here, but like many people who fall into this trap, decides that one side just must be more virtuous than the others. They never connect this attitude to the opposition's increasingly escalatory behavior.
Now when I skinned a dozen people alive to make a 100% authentic Leatherface outfit prior to going on a rampage at a summer camp, that may have been an atrocity. But! Have you considered that I was watching a genocide in progress? So frankly, obvious-final-girl, you should really put that gun down.

The replies to this thread show that the thing he asks for in this specific post will never happen.

I voted for Nader in 2000. I was 19 and bought into the all the same BS. I’ve regretted it since that night. It would be nice for abstainers to have even a little of that humility.
i'd also—& this isn't as important—like to see a bit of accountability from the anti-lib, pro-abstention left

they misunderstood the situation, got an important call wrong, & annoyed people that should be allies. i think people should own their mistakes & learn from them

This is the big part. we already do the coalition building. We just do it inside the larger parties.

I suppose hypothetically you might get more movement across the center type parties from left to right that might allow for a few more things to get done but on balance it doesn’t change anything.
Dimly recalling my APD knowledge: third parties act as pressure groups, historically (e.g., Populist Party)

But also, since the halcyon days of the Populist Party, we have since enacted the primary system, so again, unclear what a third party accomplishes that primary elections don't already

Re-upping this thread to my new account, because ahead of an election it’s really important to remember. Everyone who tries to convince you not to vote for democrats up and down the ballot is participating in republican propaganda.

Some babies are legitimately cute (not newborns, who all look like Winston Churchill) but some look like you gave birth to a mutant chihuahua

At an open mat with a bunch of UofA students on Tuesday an overly aggressive kid split open a coach’s forehead with a heel and immediately got put in the shark tank. Remains to be seen if he’s back next week.
This also happens in every MMA and BJJ gym in the world. Testosterone-fueled new guy comes in thinking he can fight or grapple because he's an "I just see red" guy. Gets immediately put to sleep by someone half his size. Never comes back.

Short of American boots on the ground, nothing Biden did was going to stop Israel in Gaza.

The leverage we had wasn’t to stop things, it was to keep them from getting worse.

And we know that was working, because when Trump took office, things immediately got worse.

It’s because the CEO of the Onion is brain wormed from years of swimming in Republican propaganda.
It remains odd to me The Onion has decided the thing to do in 2026 is mislead people about Democrats

The DNC and prominent Democrats like El-Sayed!

This isn’t even a joke, it’s a poorly controlled reflex

It annoys me greatly how easy it would have been for everything to be okay. In the time line where Biden stayed in and won $10b in student loans have been forgiven by now.

In the Harris timeline $25b.
