Counting down the days to #IMC2026, especially our panel on M. R. James and Old English! First, Emily Dixon will give a fascinating paper on reading Old English Soul & Body poems through ‘The Mezzotint’, then I’ll talk about James’ work on the Jamnes and Mambres fragment in Cotton MS Tiberius B.v.

There have been some changes to our M. R. James panel at #IMC2026! Looking forward to presenting a paper on the interplay between James' academic and creative works, and the impact of his scholarship on twentieth-century studies of 'The Wonders of the East'.

It was amazing to speak about the past and future of medieval social media with @aspencerhall.bsky.social and Emily Dixon yesterday. Thank you so much to @medievallauren.bsky.social and @itslikehistory.bsky.social for organising it!

There’s no ‘wrong’ way to become interested in museums, classical texts or art— even if it means encountering them through TikTok trends! It was fantastic to adapt our EAA paper into a 1hr talk at the British Museum last night, discussing topics ranging from Sutton Hoo to sensationalism #medievalsky
