Nolo crossed the International Date Line and entered the Western Pacific over the weekend, being reclassified from a hurricane to Typhoon Nolo.

Nolo is the equivalent of a Category 3 storm, and is forecast to remain over the open ocean as it continues westward.

TROPICAL UPDATE🌀 The chance for development is going up in the western Gulf. Invest 92L has an 80% chance of forming in the next 7 days. It could be a tropical depression by mid-week.

Impacts should track east of AR later this wknd into early next week, but it's too early to know for sure. #ARwx

Unfortunately the risks of potential tropical impacts for the Gulf Coast later this week have increased overnight, and the NWS comms outage that has two Gulf Coast offices in service backup and several NEXRAD radars missing continues into day 3.

"But the handicapped need cars!"

No, what they need are options in mobility. The tech exists to enable their freedom of independent mobility, but almost always what is lacking is the enabling infrastructure. Bike lanes and quality sidewalks serve everyone.

When I was 6 or 7, my parents would send me to the grocery store at the end of the street to pick up a single item, but the big deal was that it crossed N. Detroit St. which was U.S. 68 - technically out of the neighborhood in 1990s Xenia Ohio.

That was by far the most dangerous part of the trip.
Our built infrastructure robs kids of their freedom of independent mobility. Streets are dominated by oversized vehicles, piloted by aggressive and distracted drivers where one mistake can turn lethal. We sacrificed child development to subsidize the auto industry.

Turf sports fields are basically our next hotbed of cancers, right?

Volcanized rubber at often extreme temperatures that we roll around on and let children play with.

Malmesbury to Kemble. Source to Source walk. 18 miles.

Startimg at the cathedral I set off to find the source of the Bristol Avon, accompanied by cathedral bells in the mellow autumn morning light.

What a delight. A proper riverside path for a while.

@drwendyrocks.bsky.social Ironically, this fallstreak was just in my feed and there a bit of a dark cloud at lower levels, somewhat disconnected from the cloud hole above. Could be like your vertical cloud. Ty to Ryan for the great pics.
Some sweet cloud action over Montréal as a fall streak hole appeared in the altocumulus deck. Interestingly the cloud deck moved on but the resultant “fall” of ice crystals still remained in place over 30 minutes later.
