Sadly I think its possible that humanity's problems are emergent properties of evolved human nature rather than simply failures of intelligence or morality.

if i knew there was a 100% chance I would not survive Jurassic Park I'd still go. My loved ones would have to physically restrain me to keep me off that helicopter.
Jurassic Park is a perfect franchise because the question "why would they keep doing this" is answered by simply asking yourself if you would want to go see a dinosaur. Of course you would want to see a dinosaur.
