Grevillea macleayana flowering in coastal heathland near Ulladulla, NSW. These coastal plants with mostly entire, elliptic leaves + semi-prostrate habit when young offer a lot as garden plants - but I'm not sure when I last saw one available in a nursery or native plant sale. #grevilleas #ozplants

Tribonanthes variabillis or australis, both grow in the area but need to be able to see the hairy stigma of T. varabilis 😅 looks overall a little more like T. Variabilis though! Saw them growing on clay soils around granite rocks quite close to the beach!

Lots of talk of growth ahead of the Budget, as if it were a baroque puzzle. Our problem is basic. It's that we no longer support the things which facilitate growth: Europe, immigration, higher education, tax simplification, policy stability. These are all choices and could stop making them anytime.

This is a very good article and I love it but because I'm a cat history pedant I did cringe a bit at this: "...from the Middle Ages, when people associated cats with witches..." Medieval people hating cats has been GREATLY exaggerated.

One of my favourite moments from Taronga Zoo Sydney: This beautiful Andean Condor.
She was on the aviary floor when I arrived, but on seeing me she flew up to a perch and started preening right in front of me. All the other park visitors just walked past, but I was smitten.

Bit of scaremongering about EVs going on here. Any modern ICE vehicle is just as vulnerable. The type of energy used to operate the car isn't the issue. It's computerised systems and internet connectivity that are also found in modern ICE vehicles. Why focus on BYD? Why not Tesla?
