It remains the case that escooters make up a small fraction of road fatalities, incl deaths of children

The overwhelming majority of road fatalities are homicides caused by collisions involving cars & large motor vehicles (e.g. lorries)

The media coverage doesn't reflect this
‘Escooters are more dangerous than knives or guns'

Is a line I just heard on our national broadcaster

Given that Irish government TDs have cited Sweden's decision to introduce a language test for citizenship as justification for Ireland introducing one, it seems relevant that Sweden is finding it difficult to actually do it

One Irish person was refused citizenship recently over the language test after a six-year process despite doing the whole thing in Swedish. The same person teaches at university level in Swedish, and has published academic texts in the language.

The Government is being urged to halt planned public transport fare hikes amid warnings that climate action and the cost of living should not be pitted against each other.

we really don't talk enough about the utter contempt certain quarters of the southern political and media establishment have for northern nationalists. not in a subtle way, not in an "if you think about it" way, just open disgust and disdain for people they would rather didn't exist

This is disgraceful

No doubt he will be on the Brendan O'Connor consensus hour today to share his contempt for northern nationalists

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story.

For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards.

Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

Reminds me of the disgrace that was EUROCRIM AGM 2025 where a vote on the genocide was blocked by the Board

During the meeting an 'eminent & distinguished' colleague went on stage to criticise calls for a vote by noting there wasn't a boycott of Nazi universities (& this failure was good actually)
Another Israeli voice asks why did Ireland play Nazi Germany in 1936.

The Ireland players intend to wear black armbands for “all lives lost in the conflict”; the players and FAI will make charity donations (including a portion of the Austria gate revenue next Thursday), and some elements of pre-match formalities will not go ahead

Never forget

The deaths of your children, friends and family

Must always come second to avoiding any inconvenience against motorists

The only road deaths that should be examined with great effort are the small minority caused by e-scooters
While you, the average punter, might ask yourself

"Well an obvious and relevant question to ask here is has the camera resulted in fewer deaths on this road?"

You might be surprised to learn that none of the media coverage asks that obvious and relevant question
Quite remarkable that this piece does not mention how many people have died on this stretch of road....

For @independent.ie the speed camera on the road is "notorious"

Not the mass killing on the road

Commuters urged to contact their TDs over 15-35% public transport fare hikes
Public transport passenger groups, opposition parties and student unions have come together to call on people to contact their TDs over the recently announced increase in bus, Luas, and rail fares. The National Transport Authority recently announced that fares for public obligation services would jump 15-35% from the start of 2027, in the same week that Government confirmed it would extend fuel subsidies for motorists.
