One other thought - Rubio, Hegseth, Trump etc’s concept of greatness is so narrow- what about medical researchers, scientists, engineers, environmental experts etc finding life saving cures, energy efficient mechanisms, water-saving measures, disease resistant crops etc. Aren’t they today’s heroes?
Rubio’s world view - hailing the alleged greatness of men (all men!) such as Alexander, Caesar, the Conquistador Hernan Cortes - glossing over the millions who died in their wake, the civilizations destroyed, the people enslaved in their pursuit of glory 🧵

If Reform had nothing to hide why didn’t they commission an external independent investigation!!!

The lack of meaningful analysis is staggering - no reference at all to mess Tories made of prisons when announcing the new build policy. Surely #BBC Licence fee payers deserve better than this - all framed behind a partial headline & snidey comments. (Burnham more popular 'for now') Impatial my !!!

Shame on you Ollie Pope, Luke Wood, Moeen Ali, Reece Topley, James Vince, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Laurie Evans for caring more about the money in your own pockets than the human rights of women and girls.

This was a personal choice by you, and you chose wrong.

Aye!
What’s your legacy Johnson?
Brexit. Total collapse of trust in politics. And this.
The small boats symbolise your dishonesty and your failure.
You’re responsible for nothing but damage. Not one good thing. Not one proud moment. You’re forever a shameful disgrace who threw his own mandate in the bin.

Liar.

Small boat crossings peaked under Johnson in 2022 reaching 46,000 in 2022.

In current year they are 18,565 and falling.

Also prior to Boris Johnson's Brexit there were none.

Every day there is a story about BBC having to make cuts. It's really weird that #Strictly is paying 3 people to do the job of at most 2. Emma Willis is excellent but being prevented from doing the job properly by having an unnecessary, out of place co-presenter next to her. Bizarre
September 26, 2026 at 6:22 PM
Brilliant work as ever from Emma, debunking the dishonest, divisive & plain nasty rhetoric of a person who wants to be the next PM. Badenoch so fact free it's frightening & appallingly beneath her role!
🧵 As front-page headlines go, this has to be one of the most misleading I've seen in a long time

It's an out-and-out lie

But notice the trick they use to get away with it...👀

*They're* not lying - they're just quoting someone else who is👍🏻

In this case, the leader of the opposition🙄

Can anyone explain to me why this article doesn't mention anywhere that small boat crossings are down 42% from last year?

That doesn't mean it's not an issue 781 people arrived in one day. But it seems like the sort of context a reputable news source might mention

Does #bbclaurak have an ounce of self-awareness? (rhetorical question) No-one knows about Lib Dem policies because Laura and her MSM colleagues prefer to platform a private company of grifters with a fraction of the MPs the LDs have. “Why aren’t the Lib Dems cutting through?” she asks. Get a mirror.

I don't think we disdain the center-right enough.

First, they rode nativist populist tigers to power to get their tax cuts and deregulation;

Then, they lost control of their own parties to those tigers;

Now, they sit in lucrative jobs as columnists writing about how it's all the left's fault.

Terrific from @sturdyalex.bsky.social but of course BBC will argue they are right & everybody else is wrong.
I would love to ask a prominent BBC journalist to give me an example of an illegitimate concern. Is seems to me that it has become a question not of fact, logic, or ethics but of volume. If a big enough proportion of a village was anxious about Bigfoot or Chemtrails, BBC would cover it in a way...

If only @andyburnham.bsky.social & Shabana Mahmood spent half the amount of time listening to the likes of Rachel as they do to legitimising the concerns of the bigots, xenophobes & tools of the far right we might be in a better place as a Country.

Rachel is right to label it as a fascist wave
Very nice to hear a sane voice from Piddington. Serious respect to this woman, who is apparently already being othered by more bigoted villagers.
