After however many years of doing this I finally had a reel go kinda viral. 829k views and counting. Fairly exceptional for a history post. There’s obviously an appetite for what I’m doing. 🤩

Ever wondered what having a piece of content go viral would do for your book sales?

I found out for you.

Had a reel do 500k views today and while I am elated people are enjoying my content…book sales are about the same. Womp, womp. 🤣

Good reminder social content benefits the platforms first.

Could it be that the beginning of the Viking Age was brought about by a kind of keeping-up-with-the-Joneses scenario between elites over who could fund the most lavish burial?

The Annales d’Angoulême say the men who sacked Nantes in 843 were ‘Vestfaldingi’ or men from Vestfold. For the writers of the annals to have known this, the Vikings either would have had to have a prior relationship with their victims, or they introduced themselves before attacking. #vikingsky

My mom dug up this picture of me when I was 17, around the time I was introduced to the Vikings. Old pictures are fun!

I just watched a recent Nat Geo show called, “Vikings: Rise and Fall,” featuring lots of friends of the @vikingologypodcast.bsky.social. What stuck out to me was mention of two distinct Viking Ages. Not sure where that came from but everyone was onboard with it. Did I miss something?
