this word "nearly" is doing a lot of heavy lifting
The day that Biden grew so angry at Netanyahu that he nearly cut him off: "He was just completely fed up with everything and I think at that moment he was ready to just say, 'I’m done,'" Brett McGurk recalls as he releases "Brink," his memoir of Gaza war. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/u...
‘Ready to Blow His Stack’: How Biden Nearly Cut Off Netanyahu Over Gaza
Brett McGurk, who was the top Middle East adviser to President Joseph R. Biden Jr., offered the first inside-the-room account of American efforts to manage the Gaza war.

whenever we get close to seeing a systemic problem with policing, media rushes to frame it as a training problem. however, police culture is at the core of its mistreatment of victims and rape cases.

policing is a tool of white supremacy AND *male* supremacy
yet the lack of training wasn't the issue here, so why are we bringing it up.

it’s good to remind people today we aren’t going to trauma-inform our way to “more humane” forms of caging and execution

Christa Pike was tortured yesterday by the state of TN in every single USians name and the fact is that this is a country that is mostly OK with this. This says everything about all of us. We are all implicated in this barbaric practice. It's sickening.
Press release I woke up to, on Christa Pike’s condition (sent 9/30 at 11:36pm ET)

I view those “creatives” who use AI to generate creative work with the utmost contempt. In your laziness you have denied yourself the chance to bring forth the depth of your singular human experience and share it with others. You have turned the artistic process into an assembly line

Disgusting

Reading, and writing, are holy.

I love reading novels because they tell me something. They say: "this is what someone believed enough to dedicate months or years of their life to say." This is just as true for the trashiest pulp as it is for the highest literature.
They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today.

This really is the disconnect I feel with programmers who use AI heavily (and non programmers who do too!)

Programming is my art, my craft, my discipline that I have honed and will continue to hone for (hopefully) the rest of my life.

I am an artist and craftsperson of bits and bytes.
i think one big factor (among many) as to why AI has had such a foothold in coding spaces is because the majority of people dont consider programming to be art
