Just noticed my PhD thesis, On Feirm Ground: Exploring and Supporting Male Farmer Mental Health in Rural Ireland, is now up online.

To my knowledge, it is the first PhD thesis in Ireland to focus specifically on farmer mental health.

Really enjoyed reflecting on the On Feirm Ground programme during Men’s Health Week.

Great to see a programme I had the privilege of researching during my PhD continue to grow, now equipping 1,500+ agricultural professionals to better support farmer mental health.

A brilliant piece in yesterday's New York Times on a family farm going out of business amid the ongoing neoliberal structures of American agriculture.

The epidemic of farmer mental health is, beneath it all, an epidemic of institutional and structural neglect.

My column in today’s @irishexaminer.bsky.social on men and masculinity, sparked by the new Netflix series Adolescence.

The show raises urgent questions about boyhood, violence, and what it means to grow up male today’s world.

Changing men’s views on masculinity is part of the puzzle. Without shifting norms, they risk punishment for stepping outside expectations — sometimes with tragic outcomes. Men tied to traditional masculinity are 2.4x more likely to die by suicide.

New research shows that online misogyny can lead to far-right extremism. Not surprising but important nonetheless to have solid data on this.

Men who engage with sexist content are groomed by their algorithm towards more extremist views.
