#SOTEU : while Europe faces social, environmental and geopolitical pressures, it's funny how the solution always happens to be exactly what corporate lobbyists have been asking for, and they already have more access to EU decision-making than anyone.

Here's our take on AI, deregulation and climate👇
🗺️ The European Commission’s deregulation frenzy means attacks on labour rights, climate policies, nature protection, and public health. If you want to know more, join us on a free lobby tour of Brussels on 1st Oct at 5.30pm!

A new greenwashing project by fertilizer giant Yara (so polluting, it's dubbed the Exxon of agriculture) recently came online, to much fanfare.

It's #SOTEU day in Brussels! 🎉

von der Leyen will tell MEPs "our democracy protects what matters", while the Commission has spent the past year churning out deregulation omnibuses that do exactly the opposite.

As Orwell would say: 2 + 2 = 5. 🙃

🚨 Great work from @rebalance-now.bsky.social in uncovering this conflict of interest.

The same consultancy that represents major corporations in merger cases is now advising the EU Commission on...its merger policy.
For the revision of the merger guidelines, DG Competition commissioned a study on merger effects. The contract went to the economic consulting firm Oxera, which advises companies on mergers & represents their interests. This leads to serious conflicts of interest. rebalance-now.de/en/conflict-...

Heard about new fossil gas plants being built to power AI data centres? Maybe some PR about their emissions being captured & stored?

Tip: Don't fall for empty promises from companies that produce+sell gas, that a technology they’ve been failing to deliver for decades, will soon make gas “clean” ⬇️
