What a weird world we live in - Ukraine hits a data centre deep in Russia - Irish twitter users see racist posts about IPAS centres in Offaly fall off a cliff
And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services.

Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

I know Ted Lasso is made by Apple TV, but is anyone else finding their S4 product placements particularly egregious/obnoxious?

Also, while it is enjoyable and wholesome, it's really clear some actors are phoning it in this season. The whole thing feels rushed.

I already knew this was going to be a stinker weeks ago based on their lacklustre, last-minute, say-nothing marketing that told me nothing of value about the film.

I actually had to google it last week just to learn what the film was even about.
‘DIGGER’ debuts with 41% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Tom Cruise's lowest rated film in a decade.

Pompeii is a UNESCO world heritage site not because it was remarkable in its prime, but because it survived to our era untouched: one moment, preserved for all time. But future generations won't know what OUR world was like unless we do the same.

This is why we MUST bury Toronto with a volcano

Boss late Friday afternoon: "I know you only have 20 minutes, but can you draft an urgent request, doesn't need to be great."

Boss this morning: "Why does this look rushed? Why are the optional sections not filled in?"

Maybe because it was rushed as specifically requested??

AI companies are starting to sound like those guys that spend 200$ to go see something they found on FB marketplace just to save 50$ on a used BBQ.

"It's actually saves me a lot of money if you ignore the 2 gas station stops, 2 coffees and food."
You and me both, Anthropic, you and me both.

What "discussion"? Every single person I've known who finds out about this thinks it's stupid, wasteful, and obnoxious. Even the people I normally disagree with on everything else.

People don't want their skylines to be dominated by drone-ads. Simple as.
A large LED aerial drone display appeared over Toronto’s skies late Thursday night advertising Loblaw’s health services app, sparking heated discussion online about the use of airspace for promotional material.

The dumbest, most stupid thing about this whole Lake Ontario renaming is that the name Ontario is derived from the Wendat (Huron) word Ontarí'io.

The name literally came before the province.

Sickening how deeply disrespectful Trump's tantrum is towards First Nations ties and history.

The article conveniently leaves out that Reform has openly threatened the criminalization the use of Welsh, Irish, Scots, and other languages in the UK.

The BBC continues parroting reforms grievances with zero pushback or context to explain why people are upset with them, as always. 🙄
BBC NEWS: Reform’s Helen Jenner says critics told her she had “no right” at the Eisteddfod, while she questions Wales’s stagnant Welsh-language target and calls for more Welsh-speaking teachers.

The lack of care or concern/discussion by electeds over the global wildfires and severe drought should be more disconcerting, but it is so absurd at this point that it seems more like a Monty Python sketch than a genuine failure of our leaders to address the on-fire-elephant in the room.

The lying liars pushing for AI data centres, who have been caught lying again and again don't deserve any quarter in these discussions, especially not just because they decide to dangle a couple crumbs to communities in "good faith"

It's just a tactic they use to continue their bad-faith lies.
Starting to see "they don't deserve good faith" reactions to this and the problem I have with that is we have examples of actual good faith negotiations that landed tens of millions of investment into local communities and, in at least one instance, residents responded by voting everyone out.
First, and most importantly, anti-data center folks refuse to believe data center developers and tech companies engage in good faith. They have staked out a purely reactionary position. Negotiation is useless. Just reject everything by default.

They're playing this as Always Defect.

Infantino probably chickened out of the deal when every private investor looking to buy a piece retracted their offers due to the boycott.

The deal would have been dead either way, and this is his only way of trying to save face. Here's hoping it fails and he steps down.
Statement by the FIFA President.

The proposal to sell the World Cup is dead.

This sounds like a last straw to keep hanging on to his presidency.

Despite this, it’s pretty clear to say that Infantino needs to be removed now. Hopefully all stake holders keep up the pressure.

AI companies buying old rare books to cut them, scan them and then shred them is just so weirdly Faustian.

Destroying texts recording our past wisdom, culture and knowledge to create a slop machine is straight up Disney villain shit.

If only we could be so bold in Canada.

Right to repair should be fundamental in any society.
EU: The European Union will require sale of mobile phones with “user-replaceable and longer-lasting batteries” starting in 2027.

The regulation demands “availability of spare parts and manuals for 10 years to curb planned obsolescence”.
