Interesting move from Norway with Smart Glasses being temporarily banned in public spaces due to the covert filming element.

I have just realised that if I read the word “smirk” in a story, I instantly feel icky. I can’t like a character who smirks.

On Sunday, July 12th 1998, Jason (aged 8), Mark (aged 9) and Richard Quinn (aged 10) were killed in their home in Ballmoney when it was petrol-bombed by Loyalists, rioting after the Drumcree parade was banned from travelling the Garvahy Road that year. 3 brutal sectarian murders.

Bisexuality does not require you to have dated X number of people Y times to count.

You attracted to more than one gender? Cool. You count.

Anyone saying otherwise is a jerk.

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

Last week I made a silly little thing: a tiny embroidery of the snail-cat or snat from the Maastricht Hours, which I put in a pocket watch case I happened to have lying around*.

“Not all AI workers think the tech could kill everyone”

Sorry, how are we living in the timeline where this is an actual headline? Stop the world, I want to get off.

The RNLI has said the abuse of volunteers in Portsmouth has forced it to close the lifeboat station there and stop operating since September 10. Nearby stations have been providing cover to the area instead. One of the UK's largest coastal cities without a lifeboat because of the far-right.

Your occasional reminder that performative sneering at whole genres of fiction is not a sign of intelligence, nor is performative misery a sign of superior talent. Read what brings you joy. No-one else gets to decide or to control what that means to you.

Ugh I have to spend time today with someone who blanks me because he doesn’t really believe in mental or chronic illnesses. How dare I have my life ruined by covid, it’s such an inconvenience for him.

UGH.

I’m finding it harder and harder just to exist in the world. I’m in constant despair over the rise of the far-right, AI, transphobia, misogyny, all the things that just make the world worse.

Where did this idiotic idea that the Anglo-Saxons were pagan right up to the Conquest come from? Or, for that matter, that the Normans conquered “Britain.”
Today's BBC radio drama about the Bayeux Tapestry sounds arrestingly original.
