At one point, the US was officially opposed to snuff films, and also criticized those who filmed executions and posted them online as abhorrent and part of a sick and twisted culture. Now we're making the snuff films ourself and are proudly part of that culture.

when Illinois abolished the death penalty, they cited numerous executions of people who were later exonerated and the massive cost of appeals. no mention of the ethics of the punishment or the scope of government. their argument was still compelling. abolish it

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Given the certified or signature-required mail that gets put in my mailbox for the law firm one block over, I'm not sure how much harm that would do 😄 unless of course other USPS areas actually do require the actual signature!

Like the plan to give a private developer special access to Yosemite, the proposal for a baseball stadium in Grand Teton should have been immediately rejected.

No Baseball Stadium in Grand Teton, Now or Ever.

IMO, the solution should not be to browbeat people into an old standard, but rather allow people to wear whatever they want. If someone can wear ducky pajamas in public, you can wear tailoring in any cut, color, and material. As options open up, dress can then be a source of pleasure.

I wonder what factors play into the drop in parental interest *especially for boys.* If it's from the perspective of some of the US right wing, it could be self-perpetuating: boys do worse in schools, because they get less parental support, because the parents believe schools are feminine...
Families’ interest in their kids’ education is falling around the globe as scores drop, test shows
Almost every country, including the U.S., saw a drop in families’ support for their kids’ education, as measured by questions about how often parents talk to their kids about schoolwork.

Anybody else with a background in the tradwife/evangelical womanhood world having some feelings about those Natalie Harp letters?

If I fawn harder, if I grovel more, if I make it clear I understand that everything is all my fault for falling short of his perfection, maybe I won't be cast out.

Have we heard back from all the Epoch Times/anti-CCP types who said the only thing that mattered in the 2020-24 elections was that Trump would stand up to China/support Taiwan, ditto NK/SK, and maybe even the Soviets?

Or have they all pivoted to wanting trans men in women's bathrooms?

Anyone who's spent time in the submissive-wife religious sector will find these letters very familiar. Fawning, emphasizing dependency, cringing apology and begging forgiveness for the possibility of doing something he might not have liked. That plus attractiveness and availability is a wife's role.
Natalie Harp's letters have the same manic joylessness and obsessive fixation that I found in QAnon social media. The messianic fawning over Trump, the neglecting of basic bodily needs, the self-flagellating belief that they'll never be good enough. They're all signs of a deeply unwell person.

Same with water. You've gotta follow restrictions when there's a drought, but like, Nestlé never does. They'll keep sucking you dry to fill their little plastic bottles. Then you try to play your assigned Guilt Role and recycle the little plastic bottles, and they end up in a landfill anyway.

I often think of these chodes as runners on a track torturing themselves as they chase an ideal of toxic masculinity that they know they'll never reach.

And the only thing they hate more than themselves is all the people on the sidelines who are happy not even trying.

Thinking of the farmer's response when told we had daylight saving time to help him -- the cows can't tell time and that doesn't change the amount of daylight hours, so it's irrelevant to him, but only for city folk!
