At one point, the US was officially opposed to snuff films, and also criticized those who filmed executions and posted them online as abhorrent and part of a sick and twisted culture. Now we're making the snuff films ourself and are proudly part of that culture.

How about corporate sponsorship? Charlie Kirk suggested Coca Cola as a corporate sponsor for the public state executions he said children should be forced to watch, for one idea.

Ooh I love her and I've never seen that! Thanks for the link.

And he wanted children to be required to watch

Tbf, they also get all hot and bothered by watching or even talking about graphic descriptions of crucifixion.

Just like with Muse (the band), they will get their username etc usurped.

Heck, Schmitt is still running with "there was only one men's sports game in Atlanta that day, yet this lying guy says he was at a different game, can you believe it?"

Is that not also an argument against euthanasia, if it's true that there is no method of putting someone to death that does not torture a small but substantial number of them?

when Illinois abolished the death penalty, they cited numerous executions of people who were later exonerated and the massive cost of appeals. no mention of the ethics of the punishment or the scope of government. their argument was still compelling. abolish it

Eh, we've decided we can deliver non-traumatic euthanasia, where the person goes into the room knowing they are going to be put to death.

On the contrary, he's been doubling down in appearances since then, saying, "It was the only NBA or NCAA men’s game going on at that time in Atlanta. He claimed later that he was at another game." As if Smith said he was at a different men's game in Atlanta, rather than a women's game in Maryland.

Though he didn't eat his words - he's going around saying "there was only one men's sports game in Atlanta that day, and this lying dirtbag claims he was at a different game, can you believe it?" And the RW bubble eats it up.

And the way it's playing in RW media, bizarrely, is "It was the only NBA or NCAA men’s game going on at that time in Atlanta. He claimed later that he was at another game." As if he claimed he was at a different men's sports game in Atlanta, rather than women's sports in a different city.

He'd been the attorney general before then - did he convince the state he was someone else?

I so wish the response to "it was my understanding there wouldn't be any fact checking" had been, "it was our understanding you wouldn't be lying."

Heh, and I was told here on Bsky that opposition to data centers meant I supported or was probably personally part of a sex cult.

Buying land for the nature conservancy is a good thing, even if it's not the One and Only Acceptable Issue.

I guess if it was any good at the first step of filtering out all the dozens or hundreds of people who click "is this still available" on every marketplace listing they see, but who never answer your replies? But it probably wouldn't be any good at that either.
