I fear we were too hard on the CD Cenobite. A beautiful creature who really embodied the pain/pleasure of being a dedicated lover of physical media.

One of the best things about being in a union is being able to work on Concerted Union Activity, like launching a newsroom.

The Hennepin Herald, which will cover Hennepin County government, launches Sunday. hennepinherald.beehiiv.com

We said from day one that Christian Castro would not escape accountability. We said it when he fled to Texas. We said it when Texas refused to extradite him. And we said it when we took the fight to court.

Now, Castro is facing his charges and the legal process can move forward in Minnesota.

Because this will come up many times: you cannot find Christian Castro's case by searching Minnesota's public court records for his name. No one is hiding anything or getting special treatment. This is normal procedure. Pending criminal files are not searchable by name but they ARE by case number
ICE agent Christian Castro makes first appearance in state court for shooting and wounding a man in north Minneapolis in January. He was arrested in downtown Minneapolis yesterday. He appears in federal court early tomorrow morning on charges of lying to FBI.

It's difficult to express how unusual it is for any sitting judge to give an interview like this, much less seven sitting judges from the same District. I think it speaks well to the values of our bench and the legal community in Minnesota, particularly our commitment to the rule of law

Klobuchar apologists need to reconcile for me why, if she's actually a consummate DFLer and super special political genius with a completely unique ability to win statewide, she has refused to lend her alleged strength to Keith Ellison. Good luck doing shit with a Republican AG!

I am deeply concerned about Minneapolis Public School’s (MPS) plan to shutter 16 schools, including Field Elementary in Ward 8. Field is an important cornerstone of Ward 8 with a rich history of being one of the first Minneapolis schools to participate in a desegregation program in 1971.

It's wild to see how the politics and policy of public schools makes otherwise reasonable liberal and progressive people betray their philosophical beliefs in this one area. Makes you understand how the right has used people's fears about their kids for anti-LGBTQ and anti-public health goals.

A thing about AI that has broken a lot of brains and prevented people from properly analyzing it is that they're experiencing the long-standing power of supercomputation for the first time in a way that is intelligible to them. There is no secret sauce, we've just made a better brute-forcing machine
