I don’t think what we post here today will have any effect on election outcomes.

And yet they won't do it. But they'll pay for LLMs...

Polls about politician favorability or policy preferences can be helpful resources. That's the only thing they are useful for. They predict nothing. I wish people treated them in this way: as information to be used to do politics.

As far as I’m concerned, one of the most urgent questions going forward is how to reduce the scope and reach of criminalization.

Now think about how people respond when someone takes a principled stance against funding weapons or mass deportations.
This is your brain. This is your brain on DC savvy political reporting. Any questions?

Some people think that everything folks do represents potential energy and labor that could be harnessed and redirected to the critic's liking, and that's not how people work. Seriously, it's just not how anything works.

If you want to be fun at AI bro sessions just ask them, “now who is going to have control of that model that the frontline worker uses?“ because i cannot figure out how bosses who won’t trust their workers to hold the bathroom key are going to suddenly give workers’ control over an ai agent.
A lot of people use software in their jobs, but vanishingly few have control over the software they use. So AI's ability to produce bespoke tools for those who use it is really limited to that tiny subset.

Also, writing code is a small part of even developers' jobs. Mostly it's comms and management
Someone on here told me that more jobs are like software development than the people doing those jobs appreciates. And I wonder anew who are these people and have they ever left the house

This is what the militia groups are saying in re the midterms. (Which is why it's going around the interwebs.) It's based (in my analysis) on fears generated by the French protests, "communism" on the march, and potential for left-wing protests post-midterms.
