Having spent 30+yrs writing academic books and papers, retirement has given my writing a new lease of life. OK, I've not become a prolific novelist but "Science and Sensibilty" is my 4th general non-fiction book since 2016 and I'm mighty proud thanks to Lutterworth Press @saraband-books.bsky.social

Published today! A fun look at gravity in everyday life. ("Gravity: Life's Ups and Downs" Lutterworth Press). Falling over myself with delight! But I get up again, nothing can keep me down. Well, except gravity. @boydellandbrewer.bsky.social

"Very flat, Norfolk" (Noel Coward's 1930 play 'Private Lives'). Well not true of Norfolk as a whole but certainly true of the Wherryman's Way between Reedham and Great Yarmouth along the banks of the River Yare, perfect weather for walking yesterday.

Our rapid disillusionment with political leaders is treated by much of the media as some kind of pathology. But what I see is these leaders backtracking on their promises, dashing people's hopes and serving the ultra-rich ahead of the rest of the population. Why wouldn't we be disillusioned?

True! Perhaps fame (and sales) will come one post at a time. And by 2049 I shall be well-known, well-read and rich. Oh, and err 104 years old...or dead.
But I’d never heard of you until now. So at least you going to gain a new reader 🙂

Ha! Thanks Alom for posting this scam. I got one and thought "At last! Recognition and appreciation of my great works". Then I got another, and another similar email. Then the light dawned and my humble place in the literary universe returned. 😒
Got email saying “Thank you, Alom, for this book. It’s a gift to anyone who has ever wondered about the world and wanted to understand it a little better. I am grateful for the care and joy you have brought to the task, and look forward to exploring more of your work.” If only it wasn’t a scam email

Ah, Tracy as a low income author of non-fiction pop science books a shot in the head feels a bit extreme to deal with my sorrows, but if I could have been in one your named cities a photo would have lovely. I still live in hope of a sales boost but not posthumously.

Earth is now warming faster than at any point in recorded geological history - around 10 times faster than the extreme warming event 56 million years ago and 20 times faster than at the end of the last ice age.

We are almost certainly in a new extinction event.

Things I did during the first covid lockdown and just discovered buried beneath a pile of things to be filed or thrown away: painting I did of a schematic topographic map of Norwich. OMG, I've just found several more! I must have been desperate for things to do.
