This is a fabulous volume. I enjoyed the chance to think about how episodic memory fits into standard phil mind (spoiler: it doesn’t), and the other chapters are are all so fun and creative. A testament tk Devin and Louise’s lovely vision of philosophy of mind today. Highly recommend!

New paper with Liz Spelke, @rebeccasaxe.bsky.social, and @ashleyjthomas.bsky.social! We find that when 4- to 6-month-old infants observe two individuals share saliva, they infer that those individuals have a close relationship.

i agree with the babies
nor is the distinctive thing about "race realism" the idea that race is biologically real. insofar as there is any reason to believe in the biological reality of races, that very same reason undercuts "race realism"
i don't particularly expect the public discourse to be conducted in terms that are metaphysically respectable in general, but i do believe in us on this one: we can recognize that the distinctive thing about the view is not the idea that races are real

The book achieves this aim admirably, both detailing how extant evidence supports the Soundboard Account and laudably proposing specific ways to test the theory directly against its chief competitors (namely, dual process theories and Eric Mandelbaum's Spinozan theory).

When my school was cutting my major, I posted something on X about my anxiety and disappointment. A trustee recommended I read some stoicism because he found that it helped him (with no sense of irony that the discipline he was recommending I read was just eliminated by the board he sat on).
