After way too many trains passed in the shadow, timetable and a sunny spell finally matched for the SJ Intercity to Malmö. These black locos are just too bad-ass looking. 🥰

A black Rc6 loco hauls a rake of older carriages. The first one is blue, the rest black like the locomotive. Bright sunlight on the train and the landscape, while there are many clouds in the sky.

The first colorful leaves and the tranquillity on this afternoon are unmistakable signs that the cooler half of the year is approaching fast. 🍃🍁🥰
This will be one of the last winters for the old Saltsjöbanan trains. In 2029/30, they will be replaced by brand-new Skoda units.

Der Ständerat beriet heute im Eilzugstempo über den Ausbau der Kompetenzen des Geheimdienstes. Praktisch alle Verschärfungen wurden durchgewunken – teilweise wurden noch weitere einschneidende Massnahmen beschlossen. Dies alles mit den Stimmen der "linken" Parteien.
Zeigt die Schlussabstimmung. 42 haben "ja" gestimmt, 1 Nein, 2 Enthaltungen. 7"Linken" haben zugestimmt, 2 Enthaltungen.

Das Parlament hat diese Woche 500 Mio. CHF für die Bauern und 384 Mio. CHF für Kampfjet-Mehrkosten gesprochen. Fast eine Milliarde Franken nur in den beiden Geschäften! Gleichzeitig will man uns weis machen, man könnte sich 100 Mio. CHF für den klimaresilienten Wald nicht leisten. Völlig gaga!

Diese Stange wurde vor einem Jahr in das Eis des größten Gletschers der Alpen gebohrt, dem Aletschgletscher. 🇨🇭
Allein in den letzten 3 Monaten sind hier fast 6 Meter Eis geschmolzen.
Der Rekordsommer 2026 hinterlässt tiefe Spuren.

Loco: Surprisingly ok, apart from the typography. But the carriages look horrible - so much visual noise. What drives me crazy about this slop is, that it wouldn't take much to make it ok-ish. Turn the red and white into something horizontal and get rid of one shade of red and blue each.

Sorting old photos (again): 2022, on a sweltering summer’s afternoon by the River Arun. The air seemed thick enough to cut through, and it was as if it were muffling all sound. Finally, after hours, a Class 313 made an appearance in the sunshine. It was the very last summer for these aging trains.
A tidal river flows calmly between grassy banks through a flat landscape. In the foreground is a small jetty, secured to wooden stakes, to which three small boats are moored. In the background, an old steel bridge spans the river, which is currently being crossed by a Southern Class 313: A three-carriage, older Southern train in a pastel green and white livery, with green sliding doors and a yellow front. The train is photographed from the side and just about fits between the bushes growing on either side of the bridge. It is sunny, but there are many small clouds in the sky.

Quintessential branch line scenery. 🥰
A grey-black class 150 DMU stops just before a switch on a track in rather bad shape. Behind the train is a semaphore in "off" position. Next to the train is an old signal box where the white paint comes off the timber. The whole scenery is surrounded with lush green, almost jungle-like. The signaller in a high vis jacket is just retrieving the token from the driver of the train , leaning out off the cab side window. The sky is overcast and grey.
