Ya know what they actually have no data on (here in Arizona anyways)? The thousands of time every day drivers nearly hit someone. We have no traffic cameras, and no mechanism for reporting even the small fraction we record on video.

Also, I know so many families with two cars (or more!) and I think we're near an inflection points where people who never have questioned social norms about auto ownership will decide to go from two cars to one because the cost is not worth going so far into debt.

Japan just made its streets safer overnight! Following Spain and Wales, the country just slashed the speed limit on more than two thirds of its streets, from 60 km/h to 30 km/h.
