There's a tension when looking at problematic things in the past. I do think that there's value at looking at things from the perspective of their time. Uncle Tom's Cabin feels very racist looking at it from our time. In its time, however, it was one of the foremost anti-racist books. 1/

I'm getting really tired of powerscalers treating every story like it should be solved through spreadsheets. It doesn't matter who you think is stronger, the writer is the one who decides who gets to win, based on what makes the best story.

Lot of fireworks in my neighborhood tonight. Exposure therapy has helped a bit, but it still makes me want to go hide.

I am tired and hungry, but my roommate has a godawful stomach flu, so it would be a huge dick move to cook or bring food into the house, and I don't want to leave him on his own long enough to eat elsewhere. Life is suffering.
