My inevitable top 50 albums ever of all time etc list
It feels lazy to say it but the Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the most fascinating bands to me because they're so obviously completely terrible that there's something almost compelling about them. I don't know how this group of talented musicians and Anthony Kiedis manage it.

Did anyone even get an Elton John ticket? I was on there a second after 9am and all that was left were disabled+companion ones, which are now also gone!

Didn’t think I’d get a ticket but still.

Don't Surrender On Trans Rights
Many Democrats are running scared on trans issues. They shouldn't be.

9/11 is a great day to reread my viral Seinfeld spec and to remember I’m one of the most talented TV writers available to write for your show. I have $225k in student loans and my family is about to pay OOP for my dad’s post-stroke rehab, so you’d better believe I’m gonna give you my best!

One of my favourite pieces of writing regarding 9/11 comes from @bowiesongs.bsky.social and his piece on David Bowie’s cover of America, performed at the Concert for New York City, and which I think about a lot but especially today. bowiesongs.wordpress.com/2014/09/11/a...
America
America (Simon and Garfunkel, 1968). America (1-2-3, live, the Marquee Club, 1967). America (Bowie, the Concert for New York City, 2001). America (Bowie, Robin Hood Benefit, 2002). Those towers wer…

Early digital recording was the least sexy era of music. George Michael’s I Want Your Sex just sounds like toy keyboard demo tunes

Sitting in the choir seats at the Albert Hall, so close enough to pick up Internet Will
Happen, which I’m really, really hoping is Elvis Costello and his band’s backstage WiFi hotspot with the worst pun name on Accidents Will Happen imaginable

£20 to sit this close to Bill Bruford tonight is what I call a fantastic deal

Two listens into the new Boards of Canada and it’s very, very good. Not as industrial or bleak as some of the early impressions suggested but it definitely feels like it’s stepping back into the same thematic vein of Geogaddi while using a new sound palette

Just a little PSA- Neil Gaiman has reactivated his Bluesky account. Because he deactivated before a lot of people could unfollow him, and/or because Bluesky doesn’t remove you from a person’s followers when you block them, a LOT of you are still publicly listed as following him. You should check.

They famously did - during this period in the mid 1990s Elton and Luciano could frequently be seen eating out of a bucket, running around a big field and defecating in full view of passing motorists and pedestrians
