The number of people taking this, and the distillation of “don’t shout Free Palestine at random Jews with no context,” as “you can’t say Free Palestine unless you’re sure a Jew isn’t somewhere around you” has me worried for the basic literacy of the English-speaking world.
I don't think that the phrase "Free Palestine" is inherently antisemitic, I even generally believe in the sentiment. But it is definitely being used to harrass Jews, and I understand why many are wary of those whose activism stops and ends with saying the phrase.

This is a VERY significant decision, given the impact of the rule change, which was set to upend the student visa process which has been in place for the last half-century.

Colleges and universities said the rule would impose millions in costs and cause a big drop in enrollment.
BREAKING: Judge Dennis Saylor (GWBush/MA) temporarily blocks Trump admin drive to impose a 4-year limit on student visas now issued for length of study. Calls the rationale for the new rule "exceptionally weak." Doc: www.documentcloud.org/documents/28...

Far too many people think that if they sit out elections, they can't be blamed for the outcomes. A vote is not a moral confession! And, unless you are running for office, you are not going to ever be able to vote for someone you agree with 100%.

Coffee-drinking Jews: This is your annual PSA that if you plan to fast on Yom Kippur (note that you should absolutely *not* fast unless it's mentally & physically safe for you), you should start tapering your caffeine now. Your Yom Kippur self will thank you.

Yup, he’s exactly as slimy and off putting as I remembered. Also, apparently my insurance won’t cover a replacement appliance anymore because he makes appliances that don’t have hinges and therefore *don’t* fuck up your bite. So a new one will run me $2300.

NASA conventionally releases its "Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences" in mid-February of each year.

This announces dozens of grant programs that fund hundreds of science projects.

Last year, it was delayed by 5 months. This year, it has been delayed by 7 months so far.

I was struck this year by the phrase כל גזרות קשות. That Avinu Malkeinu was originally a prayer brought out in times of great trouble, and that after the preliminary praises of G-d, the first request is to remove harsh decrees. In past years, I would have assumed it referred to G-d's decree...

PSA: No Kings is a coalition, not an org, and it does not do fundraising appeals for itself. Partner orgs raise money for costs we're incurring to put it on. But if you get a text from "NO KINGS" or a PAC you've never heard of before asking for $ that is a scam and you should block/shame away.
