People say “well what did people do before vaccines/antibiotics/pasteurisation?” as if that’s an argument for going natural.

They died, Carol. A lot of people died.
Hiding in the room full of cultbrain bullshit books while my parents argue about whether or not their apologies for arguing are sincere enough FML the eggplant isn’t worth it

A cool thing about visiting my parents is that my stepdad loves eggplant. Everyone I live with HATES eggplant so I rarely eat it. Gonna eat so much eggplant this weekend.

I was making potato and leek soup and the recipe asked for five potatoes cubed.

Even for potato soup, 125 potatoes seems a little excessive.

Sometimes I’m like “ugh” but then other times I ride a ferry under the Sydney Harbour Bridge on a glorious September afternoon and I’m like “well dang.”

When I was growing up my parents literally had a book which listed injuries and illnesses and you could look them up and see what secret message the universe was supposedly sending you via your stubbed toe or tonsillitis.
The thing to understand about antivaxers is that they don’t think *they’ll* get sick because in their minds, only morally/spiritually inferior people are susceptible to illness.

(This applies to both religious-right and New Age–left antivaxers, they just define morality & spirituality differently)

ME AGE 41: pirates were cool, they were multiracial, distributed resources and responsibility, got drunk all the time, and turned the boomerang back against mercantilist empire, often killing the English

Every trans selfie you see here is the technology not being used for its original purpose: weird dudes grifting each other for fake money and posting bullet point summaries of 100 page self help books and arguing about age of consent laws.

the thing where people complain about sex scenes in books because they're "unnecessary to the plot" is so weird to me. You can strip out a lot of things from a book and still follow the plot. That doesn't mean they weren't there for a reason.

For my entire adult life I have regularly bought and consumed the Ho Mai Yum Cha frozen vegetarian spring rolls. Like I almost always have a box in the freezer at all times and have done for like 25 years. But suddenly they don’t seem to sell them anymore???

Cool to get confidential patient information misdelivered to my letter box because I share the same address as a health clinic. This is fine and normal. Everyone is okay with this.

Part of me does wonder if the reduced interoception found in ADHD and Autism frequently could be the result of being gaslit about your sensory concerns from a young age, where you learn to ignore your body's own signals.

My opinion on the diagetic cross-era cover songs in My Brilliant Career is: they should have covered Australian music artists.

today when I was at the supermarket a packet of pasta I wanted to buy split open and spilled. So I picked up a different packet of pasta. Actually I put the split one on the floor under the shelf because otherwise the next person would pick it up and make it spill everywhere again.
