Who the fuck cares what Turing thought? LLMs are as different from the machines he worked with as oranges are different from labradoodles and YOU have consistently displayed a profound misunderstanding of how LLMs generate outputs and interact with agentic workflows.
I'm confused what you're saying. Turing believed machines would learn to think, he's very explicit about it in his work. I agree with him and I think LLMs largely demonstrate he was correct.

And the answer is that no, LLMs do not think, reason, or have intelligence. An LLM does one thing: it uses a training set to calculate the probability that a string of tokens will be plausible in response to a prompt string of tokens
The question is: can AIs think? Do they have intelligence?
You might say "This is a silly question" but it's a question that people have often asked, in the context of trying to differentiate us from animals, and then from machines. Given recent developments, seems reasonable to ask it again.

LLMs are just math, there's nothing mystical about them. Whether they are "thinking" or doing something else isn't really relevant and I wish people would spend more time on assessing costs and benefits for specific use cases. That's all that matters at this point.

probably a more useful way I could have characterized it is that you have three options:
1. human chauvinism
2. AIs think
3. thinking requires consciousness, which at least gives you a theoretical lever to demote AIs out of it (but gets you into metaphysical questions many people find uncomfortable)
