Replacement narratives are usually studied where a white majority fears a distinct minority. Turkey has neither, and the narrative works anyway. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

Online gender violence 🚺️ ⚠️

These authors 🧵 draw on more than three million tweets covering 2023 & 2024 elections in Türkiye to argue that online visibility disproportionately exposes female candidates to online violence, reinforcing patriarchal exclusion from the political sphere

Open-mindedness was the strongest predictor of *rejecting* conspiracy theories in a sample of 46,745 participants in 68 nations

In particular, participants who were threatened by people who disagree with them were the most likely to believe conspiracy theories.

Why I don't expect liberal democracy to go away any time soon: My article on the resilience of liberal democracy, published in @jeppjournal.bsky.social.

Perfectly timed to the day after Orbáns defeat and a small spike in "democracy-optimism".

There are, I argue, good reasons for such optimism.

Fidesz and its candidates in single mandate districts are faring worse than even the initial forecasts.

Very likely 2/3 supermajority for the opposition Tisza. Orbán is finished.

I'm browsing early district level results (30-40% counted) & they look INCREDIBLE. Tisza is ahead of Fidesz not only in battlegrounds, but in deep Orbán country too.

It's *early*, but it's very, VERY promising.
