Wild to think that I ended up doing the Scottish Mammal series after brain storming ideas for a third pattern book. One of ideas evolved into something more.

I've working on and off this art project for nearly a full year now with 20 finished designs with the Scottish Wildcat as the starting point.

ftr, I've had the creative bevians discord invite linked purposefully closed due to the sheer amount of attention my article received. It'll be up again sometime next week or ask nicely.

"...Magic's Secret Lair sells fans' creativity back to us as exclusive objects of consumption. We are supposed to value the radical appropriation of Zeta's art, yet dutifully queue up to buy those images on officially-stamped cardboard randomized into speculative booster packs."

Fucking incredible.

In case you haven't seen, there's a demo planned outside the Tribunal Centre in Glasgow tomorrow (Thursday the 10th) in support of the Rockstar workers that were fired.

@gameworkers.co.uk @iwgbunion.bsky.social and lots of others will be there from 8.30am!

11 months of the year Edinburgh is a pretty good place to live. The fringe is a local festival of perseverance under conditions of infrastructural collapse and social disruption, to make us appreciate what we have and prepare for a difficult future.

Interesting pitfall of writing a sci-fi story in 2026 is that even using the term "AI" in the text feels kind of slimy lol

Reporting on the R* firings has meant multiple trips to London, Edinburgh & Glasgow over the last several months in order to be on the ground as the story developed.

It's been a different style of video for us, with more frequent updates, rather than one big doc right at the end of the process.

I hope it rains for the entire fringe.

from the bottom of my heart I need to be at a punk show but instead I'm painting digital portraiture of local historical revolutionaries for my video game so maybe that's a fine salve for now.

You see the steel industry provides "real jobs for real people" which is why it got a bail out, as opposed to universities which only hire stuffy academics that either just sit in offices and think or teach 1 hour lectures, and definitely no one else.
In which the government tells the entire UK university system to die in a fire.

Back in October, Rockstar Games fired 34 employees for alleged gross misconduct.

The severity of these firings could have spelled the end for a burgeoning union effort that was underway, but it didn't.

In fact, the union is now *bigger* than it's ever been before.
