Walkable cities, academia, and hot parenting takes with statistics, mostly in NW DC/Ward 2+3. Occasionally in real urban centers like Bethesda or Arlington.

Yeah. Costco also solves the paradox of choice problem for me.
Costco is the opposite of Amazon because they have a team of professional buyers who stock their shelves with a limited selection of high quality goods that provide good value. And unlike Target and Walmart, they have not opened up their e-commerce platforms to third-party sellers of cheap garbage.
I am a theological protestant, but when it comes to the religion of consumerism, I’m decidedly not. There’s no “priesthood for all consumers”, most of you are dumb as hell, and you should let someone who has expertise and an interest in your repeat business do the pickin’.

It’s worth noting that Taco Bell identified the source before the FDA did, and promptly pulled it from their stores. The FDA didn’t even name the source until Taylor Farms outed themselves, and hasn’t issued a recall. Basically, Taco Bell is now a more reliable authority than the FDA.

I assumed everyone knew this was predicted to occur when they sacked 50% of the NOAA staff and started canceling weather balloons that collect data last year; but if not. 👇
Here's Why Weather Forecasts Have Seemed So Inaccurate Lately
Meteorologists simply aren't able to gather as much data as they used to, and you're suffering for it.

People are going to dunk on this, with good points. But NIMBYs have made housing prices out of control in many cities. Tech salaries are just transfers to SF landlords.
“.. I thought when I’d make $200k I would be able to basically not worry about money at all,” she said, adding that she and her friends stopped going out to restaurants last year and shifted to potlucks ..

LOL, fave comment while I was sleeping has to be the person who replied to my posts about buying a new EV being concerned about me using "oil." Baby, it's an electric car, I have solar on my house, and soon I'll have a home battery system, too. I'm breaking up with oil, that's why I'm buying the car

Renault sells an official baguette holder for their EVs. It cost 120 pounds.

Not only will they not sell us this car, but we can't even buy OEM baguette holders in America.

Car addiction has destroyed the US. More deaths than the opioid crisis. Huge cost of living. Screwed up housing markets. EVs are a bandaid at best (and yes i have one)
"Just buy an EV" is the most privileged response to high gas prices, ever. If you think that is a solution, you've obviously never lived in an apartment building and depended on your 10 year old Corolla to get to your minimum wage job, just to survive.

Los Angeles engineered its housing crisis by prioritizing car storage over human shelter. Mandating parking minimums made affordable housing illegal and forced 130 km of suburban sprawl. This is exactly what happens when you build a city for cars instead of people.

In DC, universal free prek may have kept a number of ‘rich’ families in DC and stay in the public school system (for elementary) and not move to the suburbs.

This is a good thing for both integration and a healthy tax base.

We should do the same for all local things.
Boy, what a terrible headline.

We *need* the wealthy to participate in public services. If only poor people ride the bus, then rich people won't wield their power in support of public transit or, worse, will wield their power *against* it.
