New Research! This summer I went to 272 'School Streets' in Paris, generating a comprehensive picture of this massive street-pedestrianization program. I cataloged amenities, tracked their development over time, and carried a thermal camera 📸

Thread on the findings 🧵

Wild to see NYC DOT use the terms "Super Speeder" and "Extreme Recidivism" in the roll-out of their new safe-streets policy!

CBO analysis: The Iran war has cost the U.S. $38 billion as of August 1.

That’s >$246 million per day, on average.

CBO says the war has raised inflation and global energy prices, citing reduced traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, and says it’ll raise interest rates on treasuries.

Pleading with academics to include photos in your manuscripts/papers. It really helps to have a picture of the thing you've spent 6,000 words (and years of your life) describing. The reader may not be familiar with the place/topic/setting/object.

Absolute treat to hear historian Peter Norton (@norton.bsky.social) give a guest seminar at Berkeley on transportation advocacy and car-centricity in the US. A scholar who has genuinely changed how the progressive planning movement engages with history and incorporates it into modern messaging.
