My brother went to the ER on Tues with abd pain and a fever. They said he had pneumonia and diverticulitis. They ran more tests, and said he had a perforation in one spot and an abscess in another. More tests. Now there's something funny on the liver, spots on the bones, and the abscess is a tumor.

It’s my 19th Crohn’s-iversary! The Friday of Memorial Day weekend in 2007 I landed in the ER, and I was released with a dx 2 weeks later. It’s tried to kill me a couple of times now, but I keep on kicking!

I really like Mom's Wed aide. She's right on top of Mom, makes sure she doesn't take any risks, but she's also chatty and likes to laugh. Mom wants to feel like she's still doing household chores, just with assistance. Ruth lets Mom micromanage her, instead of just doing things herself.

We keep hearing folks rejecting the warning bells about the trans genocide, saying “it’s not like there’s gas chambers & ovens”. Aside from the reality that the Holocaust didn’t start w/ gas chambers & ovens, this comes from an ignorant understanding of what a genocide is.

We keep hearing folks rejecting the warning bells about the trans genocide, saying “it’s not like there’s gas chambers & ovens”. Aside from the reality that the Holocaust didn’t start w/ gas chambers & ovens, this comes from an ignorant understanding of what a genocide is.

I admit that my emotional state affects how I feel about what I'm reading. (Emotion check: not good.) But was anyone else kind of disappointed by Platform Decay? There was some good stuff here, like the emotion checks and Three's shenanigans. (I won't say what, no spoilers.)

Mom fell again. Didn’t get enough sleep last night, and down she goes. It’s pretty much a given at this point. She doesn’t seem to have hurt herself, but it’s coming. You can’t fall monthly with no injuries forever.

We had the “assisted living is happening, which floor plan do you want?” talk with Mom, and it seemed to go okay. I guarantee there will be an explosion tomorrow. We blindsided her. We railroaded her. How dare we. But for right now there is agreement.

Took my uncle to tour the assisted living facility where we want to place Mom today. He really liked it, too. Mom is digging in her feet, insisting that she needs the one bedroom apartment, when the studio is more appropriate. And $1,000/month cheaper.

My uncle is telling me about all these options he found for financial assistance for assisted living for Mom. With ChatGPT. Medicare and Medicaid programs, neither of which actually pay for assisted living.

Watching Dark Winds. The German hit woman is setting up her father with dementia in a senior facility for $550/month. The regular, non-dementia assisted living place we’re looking at for Mom is more than 10x that per month. Of course, the show is set 55 years ago.
