looking at both bsky & twitter i've noticed that the average twitter user is, in practice, the kind of user they complain bluesky is filled with, but with more chudspeak. checking that site is basically looking into an endless pool of discourse around pointless things

i do think that the "part 2 is a metanarrative about part 1 and battle shounen manga as a whole articulated through the limits of family, state, & sexuality" reading has enough text and subtext, intentional or not, that anyone going through part 2 would probably find it more fun with that in mind

biggest criticism of the ending for me though was that asa basically is entirely removed of any interiority & characterization even here. probably the biggest indicator to me that fjmt's primary motivation (if we want to talk about author intent) was "let's end this now and stop thinking about it"

one thing i def like about the chainsaw man finale is that it's *crystal clear* that denji was only ever gonna be happy, and only ever be a force for lasting good, in abandoning the hypermasculine ideal embodied in pochita. it was clear to me in part 1, its extra clear now
