I used to sing "three sisters" to my kids at night like a lullaby because it was long enough and easy to remember. my daughter was 13 before she one day said "wait, that song is about murder?! and you sang it to us like it was a lullaby?!"
this one’s my favorite

favorite response so far this semester to a journal assignment asking students what advice they'd have for my future students: "She knows way more than you think and enjoys and listens to what you have to say. If you get her really going, you might have to tell her to take a breath." ... fair 🙈

trying a new way of marking favorite lines; washi tape dots folded over the edges of pages. centered the first one but then realized I should leave the larger side of the dot on the page I'm actually marking or I'll just confuse it with the page on the opposite side of the sheet... #annotation #📚💙

My 11-year-old, from the back of the van, requested that we listen to If Books Could Kill. (My parenting skills are above reproach.) A while later, when I told him I was driving slowly in the rain to avoid the little frogs on the road, I said, (1/2)
Episode 39: The Let Them Theory

The self-help craze sweeping the nation tells you to “let them.” If someone cuts you off in traffic, let them. If your friends are ignoring you, let them. If a popular self-help author plagiarizes your idea and turns it into a book, LET THEM.

Just finished last night: 4.25⭐ First half felt like I was reading David Copperfield... and "Pippa"? and Christmas in the ending? Am I imagining Dickens here and there? Loved Tartt's writing style but could use a trim here and there, esp. at the end. Still a good read! #booksky #📚💙
