Asking for a friend: anyone knows why further posts in a thread might not end up visible in your profile/people's feed when posting them? I don't understand bluesky 😭

This is not mine but I think the best analogy for this I've encountered, the one people really seem to get in their bones, is "would you rather do an easy homework assignment yourself or edit the work of someone who did it badly"
Fun fact: "Reviewing an AI made translation" is more work for translators than just translating it themselves, because AI translations do not pass the sniff test beyond the most superficial. It's a loophole companies use as an excuse to underpay translators, and nothing else.

What do you mean, you're supposed to close one sketchbook before opening another one?

It's called a-prefixing, and it's been around in English for a long time, still found in some varieties!

The Yale Grammatical Diversity Project has a whole article about it here

Birds I saw on vacation, engraved on milk carton, printed with a pasta machine.

Egret, sacred ibis, cormorant.

I'm really enjoying this method, it feels very organic and fun.

Today's contextless sentence to translate for work (by this I mean I also don't have any context):

"New balls, please."

I've had my hair in a bun all summer because I hate feeling it on my neck/ears when it's hot, and boy it was hot.

I cut it short last weekend and since then I'm constantly confused why I can't feel the bun OR the hair on my neck xD

I was setting up to paint on a beach in Brittany when a lady walked up to me, "There's an ibis over there! I've never seen one here before!"

She had some shaky photos on her phone. I walked up closer and there he was, calmly posing and walking around, I was able to draw him without hurrying
