As we learn more about the companies supporting ICE, this is will be a giant thread of ways to divest from them.
"Yet only 1 in 4 renters with low incomes who need assistance actually receive it due to funding limitations, even though a near record number of renters are paying more than half of their incomes on rent."
A House 2027 funding bill would leave about 471,000 fewer people receiving housing vouchers that help families afford rent and avoid housing instability. See our new state-by-state analysis of who would be affected: www.cbpp.org/blog/congres...
Congress Should Reject House Cuts That Would Leave Nearly Half a Million More People Without Stable Homes
Final 2027 funding must prevent a loss of rental assistance and advance other important housing priorities.

vacant lot remediation is one of the most robust evidence-based interventions for community violence and neighborhood wellbeing that we know of. like UBI, it works literally everywhere it's implemented
one thing worth saying about the disorder Mandani discourse is that it matters what you're using "disorder" as evidence of. here's some public health research using "broken windows" as an indication of "need for public investment" i.e. fixing the windows

When you really boil it down, American liberals are fine with death camps and wars, you just better not be tacky about it
I just can't wrap my head around why they care more about UFC matches and the Kennedy Center than they do about the American Government murdering civilians for simply being Black and Brown. It's so fucking sick! And the kids they happily see killed! And the 2SLGBTQ+ community! It's so, so fucked.

Yeah, Flow is a must watch movie. Some things here and there are not as polished compared to huge animation studios but it's still a beautiful movie and you can sense the passion that was put into it. Being able to tell a captivating story without saying a single word is quite an achievement!

This is an article worth reading, and my continuous goal this year is to read more. Yours should be, too.
My crack at Natalie Harp mania. She's obviously a stone cold weirdo, but what's more telling is how the White House is hyper-defensive about she clings to Trump like a barnacle.

Exacerbated environmental racism is one of the major very real harms of data centers, and something that people who've been studying & discussing this for over a decade have long pointed out.

It gets put in communities already most disproportionately harmed by pollution like emissions & waste heat.
“This is very real redlining…It is appropriating rural, Black-owned land and converting it for industrial purposes, and it’s being done by people who have no historical or cultural tie to the land. These are not people who are local, developing their land for industrial use.”

Trans kids deserve to see themselves on TV, actually.
Disney has now shelved three episodes featuring storylines centered on transgender characters and gender identity.

The episodes, from ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur,’ ‘The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder,’ and ‘Win or Lose,’ were either cut from release or have since leaked online.

There is literally nothing true in this statement.
Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."

This kind of thing at Substack (including their Nazi problem and trans hate problem) are why my newsletter is at Ghost.org and always has been. Andrew Tate is a spectacularly vile human being accused of numerous violent crimes against women and hugely corrosive for young male minds.
Hey, look at Substack promoting Andrew Tate as the #1 new bestseller. The company's amoral leadership & backers will platform anyone, even ludicrously toxic rapists & human traffickers.

This amendment would ban oil & gas donations to UK political parties.

Given the urgent need to transition to renewables to tackle the rising threat of climate change, this seems like a no-brainer for all MPs to support.

Please share and ask your MP to back it. 🙏
This extreme weather of the past week isn't a one-off. It's part of a dangerous new norm.

The oil and gas companies fuelling the climate crisis - and driving up your energy bills - shouldn't be funding our politics.

I've tabled an Amendment to ban oil and gas donations to political parties.
