The new Canada's Changing Climate Report 2026 is a sobering read. Even if greenhouse gas emissions stopped tomorrow, the warming / impacts are locked in for centuries. I was a lead author for Ch 8 on extremes - lots of uncertainty.

Please at least read the summary:

So disappointing. Dismantling Canada’s climate plan to meet the demands of a reckless premier and rich oil & gas companies not only increases our emissions, it undermines our competiveness as the clean energy transition accelerates - and it leaves our kids to pay the price.

"The transition to an electrified, more resilient economy isn't speculative anymore. It's underway faster than ever. The question for Canada is will we meet it with intention or resistance. Will we continue reacting downstream to disasters or finally move upstream to prevent them?" #cdnpoli #Climate
The models guiding our leaders & economy are WRONG. Journalist @stephenleahy.bsky.social helps us dig into the real #CostOfClimate, risks hiding in 'safe' forecasts & why we need to flip the ledger toward an electrified future or suffer the consequences

One vote down, one to go for today's Infrastructure Committee meeting – Manor Park will be getting sidewalks as planned thanks to some great delegations from advocacy groups and community members.

Here's how committee members voted:

“The proposed sidewalks will provide children now and decades to come with continuous safe routes to Manor Park Public School, the park and the community centre. The fact that this is even up for debate is unconscionable.”

Think heat pumps can’t handle Canadian winters? ❄️🍁

In Europe’s coldest countries, they’re already the norm — and they’re 2-3x more efficient than gas boilers, even well below zero.

Retrofits make homes warmer, cheaper to heat, and ready for the future.
