This is something I try to emphasize to people when they pay me for critiques of their designs—good critique is a process that helps clarify to YOU what YOU want to achieve and how best to go about it, and sometimes that means listening to a critique and deciding that every part of it is wrong.
One of the most important skills you can learn as a young artist is how to disregard critiques from people whose opinions about how you draw don’t really help you.
When I say that you have to be leery of who critiques your art, your life will depend on it. The wrong person giving you critique will have you fighting with your own creativity, leaving you mentally unwell. Especially if you don't have enough people around you encouraging your art
