Is that bad? That seems bad.
The Pentagon is notifying millions of current and former U.S. military servicemembers and staff that hackers stole their *unencrypted* personal information during a months-long data breach. The agency that had the breach also handles ID and login/credential access to U.S. military systems and bases.

This would come across a lot better if he hadn’t just lost a war.
Hegseth: "It's worth saying again so the fake news understands it. We are no longer the woke department or the weak department. Simple translation of that -- no fatties no trannies no beardos no weirdos no wimps no radicals. Just warriors."

I don't know, sure looks like an ideological clown speaking here.

So League 2 if they get an IFR playing license, probably National League North if not.

I think the moral of the story is "don't cheat".

If there is any justice, Schmitt will always and forever be known as Hawkeye.
One, this hilariously outs who all got the talking points in advance and how blatantly they parrot those.

Two, Schmitt really thought today he'd launch himself to the VP nomination and with that a decent shot at the presidency down the line. Instead this is the only thing he'll be remembered for.
If you want to really know how the outrage machine gets fired up:

1. Schmitt plans to drop “bombshell” on Smith

2. Someone plants story that Schmitt is a Vance VP contender to run same day

3. Right-wing Twittersphere gets talking points

4. Schmitt steps in it

5. Scheduled tweets go out anyway

Tonight’s listening was Godflesh and Belbury Poly.

There’s (still) more quality music out there than any single pair of ears can hope to take in, and to encourage folks to look kind of sideways at anything that steers you away from enjoying what you want.

I should probably just blog this, but the very idea of "art everyone should know about, and if you claim you don't it's only because you're some kind of art snob" was always deeply suspect, and became ever more ridiculous with the death of the monoculture.
I sensed it but not enough to articulate at the time, but the "poptimism" trend always struck me as being less about bringing down elitist barriers and more about inverting them.

Going from "Oh, you don't listen to Bartok? Tsk tsk" to "YOU MUST KNOW THIS TAYLOR SWIFT JAM, YOU ASSHOLE."

Supposedly the most enduring popular song of all time and Rolling Stone has to browbeat you into listening to it? Ella Langley is out here playing plumbers and mechanics. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...
What Some Folks Really Mean When They Claim to Have Never Heard 'Choosin' Texas'
Claiming to have never heard Ella Langley's record-setting country song 'Choosin' Texas' is similar to saying, 'I listen to anything but country.'

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story.

For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards.

Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

Two answers here. First computer I ever used regularly was an Apple II+ in seventh grade (science teacher somehow managed to finagle this in a small district in an economically distressed town -- respect!)

First owned at home was a Coleco Adam (complete with insane superfast cassette drive.)
People are talking about first computers. Acorn Electron for me, then Amstrad CPC464, then Atari ST. My family always found a way to get the one that wouldn't catch on. (Yes, we had a Betamax too).

For some people, it’s a brilliant concert pianist. For me, it’s Andy Summers on “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da”

Not a single unnecessary note. It’s a thing of wonder.
