Working within our heritage village for over 50 years to make it a great place for residents & visitors alike.

The first #TidyTowns on bluesky - we look forward to being joined by many more to foster the TT goals in a welcoming environment.

Hi everyone, will be highlighting some of our villages features over the next few weeks, as an introduction to #Geashill

One of my ABSOLUTE favourites is Lady Muc.
Muc is the Irish word for pig & this beauty was created out of old farm equipment by the immensely talented Luke Carson
#Sculpture
Wonderful to hear and see the newest sculpture - The Spirit of the Cauldron.

This is a new sculptural piece to celebrate the Geashill Cauldron, housed in the National museum.

Huge congratulations to everyone who contributed to getting this completed!

Ireland has three native filmy ferns, all of which are present on our farm: Tunbridge (right), Wilson's, and Killarney fern (left). They're closely associated with rainforest, though Wilson's likes slightly more open niches.

Only a cell or two thick, the fronds are translucent, hence 'filmy'.

When a tree dies at Wisley, it is not removed unless it is dangerous because it provides structure and habitat. Sometimes they are carved and this one, in Oakwood, has been carved into a Cardiocrinum seed head.

The Eurasian blue tit is a TINY bird, measuring about 12 cm (4.7 in) in length with an 18 cm (7.1 in) wingspan
Their diet consists primarily of spiders, insects, and caterpillars during the breeding season, shifting to seeds, nuts, and berries in the winter.
One of my favourites.

🦌 In Kinnitty, Co Offaly this weekend, FRS brought together foresters, hunters, academics & conservationists to tackle one issue: unsustainable deer pressure
After talks, we visited our Forelacka–Camcor Wood nature reserve. A shared problem in need of this shared response!

I've decided to compile a definitive thread of photos of the best sheep I've photographed during my walks in the countryside, together with supporting biographical information.

I will put the vital story associated with each sheep in the alt text, since some of it is a little long to fit in a post.

Internationally acclaimed Finnish sculptor *Jaakko Pernu* will conduct a two week artist residency in Geashill in September which will culminate in the making of an environmental sculpture entitled *“Planting”* in the Glebe Walk.

A short thread introducing people to some single moths I've found in my area, looking for fun.

1. Here, for starters, is a Canary-Shouldered Thorn Moth (I didn't make this up).

Solar panels don’t damage the countryside you just don’t like the way they look.

Skylarks. Linnets. Yellowhammers.

Solar panels were known to attract birds, but they are now drawing in species never seen in these areas before
New research from the University of Cambridge has found that some birds species are making a triumphant return to the area around solar panels in England.

Rehabilitation of the Dandelion!
No other plant in the Netherlands attracts as many bee species: 107. In early spring, when nothing else is blooming, it is simply there. Meadow bird chicks that have just hatched depend on the insects that are drawn to dandelions. No dandelion, no insect, no chick.
