Seaking of wills, funerals & feasts (hat tip to @drlindseyfitz.bsky.social post about funeral tickets) women in Ireland didn't just leave money/malt for their funeral ales, they also willed their brewing equipment to their children, often daughters. Brewing pans like

Wonderful to see so many familiar faces celebrating #WorldWetlandDay in my home village of Geashill.

Geashill Tidy Towns created the #Raingarden & #Wetlands area a few years ago and it’s really added to the village - and of course to the diversity too!
We had a great turnout for our tidy up of old vegetation around our ponds and wetlands today - on a lovely sunny Sunday morning.

This clears the ground for fresh Spring growth, which can only be around the corner.

Sold ale together. Or she brewed for their own household.

The brewing pan above is a closer look at brewing pan, possibly Geashill Cauldron at @nmireland.bsky.social

They also had three pewter pint pots were 8d (pennies) notable bc ale had to be sold in specific sizes according to the laws.

Wonderful to hear and see the newest sculpture - The Spirit of the Cauldron.

This is a new sculptural piece to celebrate the Geashill Cauldron, housed in the National museum.

Huge congratulations to everyone who contributed to getting this completed!

The one you can see in the image above. This huge brewing pan/basin is in collection at the National Museum of Ireland- Archaeolgy and might actually be the famous 15th-century Geashill Cauldron; a legendary vessel that quite literally struck fear into the hearts of Irish enemies

Hi everyone, will be highlighting some of our villages features over the next few weeks, as an introduction to #Geashill

One of my ABSOLUTE favourites is Lady Muc.
Muc is the Irish word for pig & this beauty was created out of old farm equipment by the immensely talented Luke Carson

Over the moon to see my little village Geashill featured here!

The rain garden is properly embedded now - there’s a lovely picnic area, a hidden geocache & gorgeous sculptures (by Holger Lönze).

Do watch the video to get a sense of its glory in sunlight (remember that?!?)
Really excited to see #Geashill Rain Garden featured as a community champion on the Local Authorities Waters page. 💧

We wouldn’t have this wonderful feature without their support and there’s a handy explainer video if you’d like to learn more!
