I had mentioned this was a great area for wildlife to the Park people, but to no avail. It had impressive number and variety of bees, hoverflies, beetles, true bugs, flies and others such as dragonflies; mainly autumn but through the spring and summer too. It was tucked away and looked nice. Sigh.

Another reason I don’t spray- not even soapy water- is that our green jumping spiders like to live on the citrus trees (and probably eat the useful hoverflies, sadly, but damned if I’m going to harm my favourite spider!)

I just found cheap bulk native self-seeding perennial wildflower mixes when I moved from my last garden after half a decade of effort & cost. Went ham on the beds. Only saw the first bloom, but I hope the Hummingbirds & Bumblebees & hoverflies are alright because of it.
