My personal favorite #BestOfOctober is this shot of a group of Pectoral sandpipers landing in a farmers field. A lifer for me. They are momentary visitors as they migrate from the northern parts of Canada down into South America.

I actually heard the Roy Budd version from the brilliant The Sound Spectrum compilation before I managed to track the original down. The whole soundtrack is superb.

Had a brief trip to Portland, this pm. Saw the Snow Bunting, plenty of Rock Pipits, 4 Purple Sandpipers, 5 Turnstones, Stonechats in the Bill area. No Redstart at Reap Lane. And no Ring Ouzel at the Verne on the cotoneaster, although there was a single Redwing & a few Blackbirds. #UKBirding

A week in Cornwall was slightly hard work. AGP on the Hayle that never settled was the best find though my description may not pass muster with the Cornish rare brigade. Fortunately it was snapped by a good Cornish birder.
