ICE CAN NOT BE REFORMED IT MUST BE DESTROYED.
The Trump administration is again separating families, except this time it’s doing so more quietly and away from the border.

Agents have picked up hundreds of immigrant children, claiming that many of these kids are unaccompanied despite having families in the US.
“You kidnapped my son”
ICE is now separating children from their parents and deeming them “unaccompanied.”

One month left to make Trump a lame duck president.

If Democrats flip both chambers of Congress, Trump’s corrupt and self-serving agenda hits a brick wall…

ARE YOU READY?! 🤚

The problem with "art" as a term is that it refers to a bunch of different concepts and frameworks, but if you try to come up with a new word to describe the specific thing you are talking about you end up in an XKCD standards comic situation.

Went to a new-to-me sushi restaurant the other day. Menu had a bunch of very obviously generated images (not of the food, just for decoration).

Sushi was terrible. Everything was terrible. They pre-make little trays of wasabi and ginger and the wasabi was dry and the ginger was dry. Just bad.

Yet of all discourses that reduce dynamics in MENA and global politics to specific preoccupations in parts of the Left the two that baffle me most is how you had some in EU/UK and US cheering on a psychotic autocracy under Assad in the 2010s and sectarian reactionaries like the Houthis in the 2020s

The Oct 7 attack by Hamas was a horrific act against Israelis that made everything worse for Palestinians, the Israeli government committed war crimes, Hezbollah is a fascistic organisation that exploits its community, the IRGC feeds off endless war at home and abroad

All these things are true

That substantial portions of the European and US Left struggle with the idea that it is possible to condemn criminal actions by the Israeli government while also condemning the vicious brutality of Hamas, Hezbollah and the Iranian regime continues to baffle me.

"But if it was limited only to public domain it couldn't function like it does!" I mean:

a) That's why I noted "licensed and compensated works"

b) It doesn't excuse IP theft or materially argue for the value of a tech apparently only possible through IP theft

c) It's not too late to compensate!

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

It's really quite dire. And it's happening at every level -- no federal funding, no nonprofit funding, no state funding. Plus harassment at every level, federal and state. People who do good work are being put in positions where it is nearly impossible for them to continue.
