Hi #GenHour! My news of the week is that on Monday, I received a photocopy of my mat GF’s birth certificate. As I suspected, it lists his father as deceased & that while he’s the 4th child born only 3 survive. (His father died 8 days & his sister died 7 months (respectively) before he was born.)

#AncestryHour For those who want to see my mat GF’s original birth cert copy (the transcribed one‘s in the embedded post), I got this yesterday. Also, source-wise, I got this from the county but the copy says it’s from the state, so do I source the county, the state, or both the county & the state?

Hi #GenHour! On Tuesday, I sent out order requests to Michigan for 4 birth certificates, 1 marriage certificate, & 3 death certificates for my maternal GF, his siblings, & the marriage certificate was for his mother & stepfather.

Hi #AncestryHour. On Saturday, I received a notice from NYC stating that they couldn't find my mat GM's birth certificate based on the info I gave them & a second page to give them alternate info for them to try again for free.

Hi #AncestryHour. This past week:

✅ Came up with column names for my Order Requests tab on my Thomas MacEntee research log
✅ Input the Order Requests tab on 2 logs and implemented it on 1
✅ Sent off a birth certificate request for my maternal GF to Wayne County, Michigan

Hi #GenHour. I’ve been getting a bit back into genealogy this week by doing source citation. How’s your research going?

Hi #Ancestry. I’ve gotten back into genealogy mostly doing source citations. ~2 yrs. ago, I took photos on my phone of photos Mom’s cousins had. Is it better to transfer them to my Mac via Airdrop (so they a heic, I think) or to email them to myself & download them (so they’re a jpg). Thoughts?

Hi #GenHour. I went on FS last night looking for something else & looked at the hints. It had a 1920 census for my mat GM & GGPs. First names, rough ages, husband‘s birthplace, & occupation were right but had their last name was Nagorsky (nowhere near Savodnik) & living in the Bronx …

Hi #GenHour. My quasi-genealogy news this week is that about a week ago, I *finally* shifted over from my old computer to my (semi) new one!

Hi #GenHour. Nothing new solidly genealogy-wise this week. However - tangentially genealogy-related (in terms of probably having more room for pictures and other documents) -, I did try to set up my (semi) new computer last night. I wasn’t fully successful so I’m going to try again tonight. #GenHour

Hi #GenHour! I’m back! I’ve been away for several weeks on a trip through part of Europe. The genealogy highlight of that trip (and really, almost only the sole genealogy thing I’ve done in the past month) is a full-day tour regarding the history of Jewish Vienna (where my pat GF is from).

Hi #GenHour. I don’t have more news genealogy-wise but this is what happened this week.
Hi #AncestryHour. My news for this week is that I finally got Mom’s cousin’s photocopies of relevant grave registry book pages from a cemetery in Detroit. (I already had his analysis of the pages.) We’re still trying to figure out if a specific gravestone is my great-aunt’s (& what it says)….
