Put another way, Ford wants to spend more on removing bike lanes in Toronto ($48M) than he's spent protecting all of Ontario's businesses from an international trade war.

Ontario deserves serious leadership, that follows through on promises, and actually puts people before profits.

And with gas so cheap!
Trump officially rolled back fuel efficiency standards today. The new target for 2031 is about 34.5 miles per gallon, down from 50.4. That means more gas burned, more pollution, and more money out of drivers’ pockets. So much for making things affordable.

USTR is carrying some heavy buckets of water these days.
Recall (per USTR), only 2 countries retaliated against Trump tariffs: 1) China; 2) Canada. This presser suggests USD$30B in forthcoming tariff relief for imports from China. On Tuesday, ~$1B in booze from Canada will banned from import by US

Being there.
A skill set that I haven’t (thankfully) had to put to a lot of use. But know I’ll need to get better at.
In a new NEJM Voices blog post, @iwashyna.bsky.social reflects on the challenges of stepping outside of the clinician role to support a friend on her post-op journey. Read the full post and sign up for email alerts: https://nej.md/4yXMgK7

They tried their best to make the idea of having more things we want nearby, more options and choices in our cities and neighborhoods, seem like a conspiracy. But never forget what the REAL urban conspiracy has been — moving everything further away and making us car dependent. #1HourCityConspiracy

Strong thread.
Read and learn.
The Trump administration wants to cull people with disabilities from the workforce.

Requests for disability accommodations are not special privileges. They are required for people with disabilities to be able to work, and they should not be treated carelessly or maliciously.
CDC, after months of delays, gives employees 20 days to resubmit disability accommodation documentation
CDC is spending months, if not longer, to process reasonable accommodation requests because HHS-wide layoffs and separation incentives decimated the department’s human resources functions.

1) School test scores continue to collapse internationally, underscoring how this is no longer a Covid effect but sustained decline.

Those falls in reading and maths are equivalent to about two years of lost schooling.
