Little Bosses Everywhere by Bridget Read is like a skeleton key for understanding the modern right. You can throw out that Perlstein book, it's just failed salesmen, success gurus and hucksters all the way down.
Green recommended Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder as the best book ever about TB and he was right. A lot of insights there into what public health should look like.
John Green's Everything is Tuberculosis is brief and interesting, but it feels like a lot of books written before Trump II will need to spend more time on how things can go really really wrong in the future. Also he's a YouTuber, he should do some videos on why funding USAID is good, actually.

It’s interesting how many people in the „abundance“ and tech circles are gleefully and aggressively attacking Europeans for being „backwards“ about air conditioning while avoiding ever discussing climate change. We simply did not need AC in Vienna 20 years ago. Seems like that‘s the real issue.

I struggle to understand the person who does not regard this spectacle with revulsion. Clearly, many such people exist.

This is correct. There is no future of democratic self government in the US with an unreformed Supreme Court. The Court is riddled with corruption and abuses of power and rooting out that corruption is a sine qua non of civic democracy in the United States.
Again - the Roberts #SCOTUS is the Hormuz problem for Democrats or anyone concerned about democracy in U.S.
It doesn’t matter what agenda Dems have, they’d be negligent if they don’t plan to act on an all out push to reform, rebalance (expand) to rein in the MAGA Court when they get back in power.

The self-censoring nature of many of the most important facts about Trump's presidencies is a load-bearing necessity for his career. The median voter cannot and will not believe that he is as bad as he actually is. They invent a less bad version of him that they can then be persuaded to support.
The sad thing is "the Trump Administration is trying to coerce the Catholic Church to support it by threatening military action against the Pope" is a thing you could never get John Q. Public to wrap his brain around. Ridiculous. "If this was true I'd have heard about it," they say, hearing about it
