I feel like there's a cohort of us who got on the internet before "social media" and made all sorts of healthy friendships through forums or livejournal or what have you and thus, while everyone's like SOCIAL MEDIA FUELS COMPARISON AND MISERY we're like, but that's just where my friends live.
Without the online friends I’ve made over the years, some of whom have become offline friends (even recently!), I would be a much, much lonelier person.

Netflix’s “Icebreaker” is the latest sign that streamers are ramping up their YA and New Adult romance adaptations, particularly books with enormous built-in fandoms, and suddenly the ice rink itself looks like some of the hottest real estate in television.

Not to nitpick/derail but the Wikipedia page linked in the very post literally says "A myth persists that the initial batch of Iron Rings was made from the beams of the first Quebec Bridge" 😅
Reminder that in Canada upon becoming an engineer you get an iron ring made of a collapsed bridge, purposely designed to be uncomfortable, to remind you that your ethics demand you give a fuck even about the boring grudgework of such as double-checking your math.

THIS!! Not every language is afraid of big words! My ESL students can def parse things like disculpatory, economize or anticonstitutionally. BC LATIN!

a friend shared a screenshot of an hr fic with me & it's been haunting me ever since... begging hr fic writers to understand how languages work. Ilya would ABSOLUTELY KNOW what the words "experiment" and "laboratory" are. Long English words =/= incomprehensible to foreigners! They're often THE SAME
