Have you noticed, lately, or noticed people around you commenting, that there just seems to be no money anymore. There's no money for companies to make the tv shows you like, the video games you like, the local diner you like shut down, no one you know can find a job.

Think about that in context of
AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP.

Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down.

"AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago.

We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.
Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

No resource is safe, moreover the protective layers put in place by those on the right side are being overwhelmed already.

So utterly shit and depressing. The clamouring desperation is so intense scraping now knocks out sites. 100% agree this should be made = to DDOS
Yet again, the Game UI Database is being scraped to the point that it's getting knocked offline. Even Cloudflare's "I'm under attack" mode isn't working.
I just wanted to create a resource for real designers. I'm getting so fucking sick of this.

Sitting in a diner sandwiched between a guy who’s using Chat GPT on his laptop & a girl looking at AI memes on her phone and thinking about the person who told me that they use CGPT to manage their day to day life all I can think of is how convenience consistently overrides common sense for so many.
Meta has enabled Muse to build extensive and ever-growing profiles on the orbit of people in a user’s life. Based on user input but also “publicly available information.” Whether that means a web search, Facebook’s own extensive data, or buying data broker info…we don’t know? And we can’t opt out.

Like, these last 18 years have been 2008 Financial Crash into Austerity into Brexit into Covid and none of it ever actually ended, and theres still no money for anything except AI and hunting trannies for sport and its just like … statistically SOMETHING good has to happen, even by accident, right?
I was 22 during the last crash, I turn 40 tomorrow. At no time during that period have I ever thought “phew, thank god THATS over”
Maybe the reason the economic vibes are so off isn't that things are *worse* than the great recession but because back then we all thought the pain was temporary, whereas the things that are wrong with the economy today have all been getting worse for a long time and show no signs of improving

Clubs might sue. What about players who’ve missed out on titles? What about broadcasters who’ve spent hundreds of millions on tv rights for a product that was corrupt? What about City’s current players? What about their agents?

Some mess this.

It's funny that for years now people have been saying that using generative AI very obviously deskills you, and people kept going no no you're wrong you Luddite

And now all the genAI CEO's keep coming out in public to announce they forgot how to read and do math and can't remember their address etc

Don’t use pronouns for AI. It is not a person nor ever will. Sam Altman isn’t making the god computer of his wet dream nightmares. They’ve made a shitty tool built on theft thats destroying the planet & is meant to lower human critical thinking while given military weapons by rich idiots.

GTA Vice City, I’m still unsure how exactly I did it, likely pure persistence mixed with nonsense like “it doesn’t look that realistic” but they eventually relented and bought me a copy for an early-teens birthday

I still have said copy on a shelf

It’s kind of crazy that this is going to be revelatory for a lot of people while idiots who post online have known this incredibly important information for years and years at this point
The 3-hour-and-45-minute “Musk” (plus a 10-minute intermission) hits theaters on Oct. 16, but it’s already causing a stir.

The documentary paints Elon Musk as an emotionally unstable grifter with more power and influence than perhaps any other human. https://wapo.st/4ydlXzL
‘Musk’ film is almost four hours long, engrossing and terrifying. What to know.
The documentary paints the tech trillionaire as a power-hungry megalomaniacal conman with a god complex. Musk accuses filmmaker Alex Gibney of compiling "hit list" against him.

For those unfamiliar, Van Halen had a line in their rider that essentially said “no brown M&Ms.” It was a way to see if the promoter had actually read the contract. They had a shitload of gear to tour with, so if they’re skipping one thing, it’s guaranteed they’re skipping something essential.
An AI flyer is a brown M&M test. If your event or business is cutting corners by using an AI flyer, where else are you cutting corners? What else are you cheating out on? Why should I be bothered to go somewhere you couldn't be bothered to promote with a little of your own personality?

The director of Ori and No Rest For The Wicked is awful. He compared cancel culture—that is, social & professional consequences for abusers when the law fails—to the holocaust.

His new anti-critic review platform will formalise racist, sexist review bombing as a feature, not a bug.

Fuck this guy.
